Thousand Ways
Originally conceived as a Lake Tahoe retreat, the home is being reimagined as a full-time residence, reshaped to support a more rooted rhythm of life in retirement. As family visits become more frequent and generations gather, the existing 1980s structure is undergoing a thoughtful modernization. The lower level is opened up from a previously bifurcated space, reconfigured to accommodate larger moments of connection, with a special focus on intimate bible studies and adjusting to generous entertaining. Above, bedrooms and family spaces are renewed as calm, functional retreats, designed to feel both welcoming and enduring for a growing, multigenerational household.
To support aging in place and ensure the home remains welcoming through Tahoe’s winter months, the approach is being carefully reworked. The existing driveway, once defined by a steep ascent to the garage, is lowered by four and a half feet to create a safer, more gradual arrival. This adjustment transforms a once-demanding entry sequence into one that feels composed, accessible, and quietly intentional, setting the tone for gathering from the moment of arrival.
